What does it cost?

CLS charges a small administrative fee for its services.  All other fees would be charged by the attorney you select to hire. 

Do you offer free legal services?

No.  CLS does not offer free attorneys or legal services—all of our affiliated attorneys charge for their services.  When you meet with an attorney with whom you would to hire, that attorney will discuss their fees with you.

A loved one has passed away in the Caribbean and has named me an executor in their will. What should I do? 

It depends.

In some Caribbean jurisdictions, you may need to be a resident of that country, before you can serve as an executor of an estate.

If you reside in the country, where you were named an executor, you may be required to use a local attorney for the probate process. We invite you to contact us  and speak with an attorney, to address  your specific questions. 

I live in the U.S./U.K./Canada and have property in the Caribbean, do I need to make two wills? 

In most cases, you will not need two wills to pass on property, also known as divesting, in multiple countries. 

A process commonly referred to as ancillary probate in some countries, or “resealing” in others, can generally achieve your objectives through one will.

However, there are some circumstances where this may not be true.

You should consult with an estate-planning attorney in each country, to ensure that the laws will allow for the distribution of your property, in accordance with your wishes.
